The Method

Here’s a quick look at our process.

1. Surface Preparation

A long-lasting epoxy floor begins with meticulous preparation. We use commercial-grade concrete grinders fitted with diamond tooling to remove contaminants, old coatings and surface imperfections. This opens the concrete’s pores, ensuring the epoxy bonds at a mechanical level rather than just sitting on the surface. After grinding, we vacuum thoroughly to eliminate all dust and debris, creating a clean, stable base ready for coating.

2. Crack and Imperfection Repairs

Before coating, we repair any cracks, chips, holes or uneven areas using industrial-grade epoxy fillers and patching compounds. This step ensures a smooth, uniform surface and prevents imperfections from telegraphing through the final finish.

Epoxy Base Coat Application

We apply a high-build tinted epoxy base coat designed to soak into the prepared concrete. This creates a strong foundation layer that bonds the entire system together. The base coat colour is selected to complement your chosen flake blend and ensure full visual coverage.

3. Epoxy Base Coat Application

We apply a high-build tinted epoxy base coat designed to soak into the prepared concrete.

4. Broadcast of Decorative Flakes

While the base coat is still wet, we broadcast flakes by hand to full coverage - not sparingly, but generously.This ensures:

  • Even colour distribution

  • Texture and slip resistance

  • Consistent thickness

  • A seamless, decorative finish

We broadcast until the floor reaches 95% coverage, meaning you still get the pop of epoxy underneath.

 

5. Curing Time

The flake-coated floor is allowed to cure for several hours, depending on temperature and humidity. During this stage, the flakes lock firmly into the base coat, forming a durable, textured layer that won’t peel or lift.

6. Scraping & Vacuuming Excess Flakes

Once cured, we scrape the surface in multiple directions to knock down high spots and remove loose flakes. This creates:

  • A smoother finish

  • Even texture underfoot

  • Proper flake distribution

We then vacuum thoroughly to ensure the surface is clean and ready for sealing.

 

7. Clear Epoxy Top Coat Application

The final step is applying a premium, UV-stable clear top coat. This seals the flakes in and delivers a durable, chemical-resistant and easy-to-clean surface. Our top coats are designed to:

  • Protect against stains, oils & chemicals

  • Prevent yellowing and UV damage

  • Add gloss or matte finish options

  • Increase slip resistance

  • Extend the life of the flooring system​

This top coat locks everything together into a strong, seamless, long-lasting finish.

 

8. Final Cure & Handover

Once the top coat is applied, the floor is left to fully cure. Light foot traffic is typically possible within 24 hours, with full load-bearing strength achieved within several days.Before handover, we inspect the surface to ensure it meets our quality standards - smooth, even and built to last.
